If the Alabama Shakes and Bon Iver had a child, and then Beyoncé adopted her, that child would be Chitra; an intimate songwriter blessed with the voice of yesterday’s soul heroines.
Growing up in the sleepy coastal town of Ocean Grove, Chitra made the big move to Melbourne in 2016 to formally study music. In what can only be described as a whirlwind arrival, within two months she was signed to youth led record label Decibels Records, and had begun recording her debut EP, Cold Love.
The EP will take you to the limbo between knowing something is over and waiting for it to end. Chitra’s EP will have audiences charmed by her beautiful voice, which blends seamlessly with her cheeky guitar style in a way that will shock the system, yet bring it peace.
Cold Love was recorded at Decibels Youth Music Centre in Reservoir, Melbourne. It was produced by emerging artist and first-time producer Connor Black-Harry (The Black Harrys, Tommy Castles), who was mentored through the process by industry veteran, sound engineer Mark Ludwig.
